We will be having a test over the lead up to the American Revolution on Monday, November 2nd. The students will be given their study guides today in class and it will be due on Friday (10/30). If the students get a parent/guardian to sign their study guide, I will give them 5 extra points on the test. Please make sure your child studies a little bit each day for their test.

We will be having a vocabulary quiz over the American Revolution on Thursday, October 22. Please help your child prepare for this assessment by studying notebook pages 61-62.
Just an FYI, IPR grades are due this Friday, October 23. This is a short six weeks. Please check your child’s grades and if they have any failing or missing grades, please encourage them to attend my afterschool tutorials on Tuesday, Thursday, or Fridays.

On another note, please make sure your child is keeping up with their class and homework in their white social studies notebook. The best way to do this is by checking the weekly assignments tab on this blog or check your child’s agenda to make sure they are filling it out. Open House will take place on Thursday, September 10th at 6:30PM.
I will be taking a group of 8th graders to Washington D.C. during Spring Break (3/13-3/16). We travel through a company called World Strides Student Travel (http://www.worldstrides.org/discoverdc/Discoverdc.asp). We will have a parent information session on Tuesday, September 15 in my classroom (D101).

The students will have their first assessment on Friday, September 4th. It will be a map quiz on the United States. To prepare for this assessment, the students can study the map they completed on NB pgs. 13-14, as well as the three levels of questions in the beginning of their notebooks.
On another note, please make sure your child brings with them their white Social Studies notebook to class everyday. We will use it every day in class and if they do not have it, they will begin to fall behind.
